I have a list that I update on my phone as I think of or hear new names I like And the funny thing is the girls list has all new names than when we were considering names for Sienna. Some of the boys names are the same as before though

i probably wouldnt like them anyway just kidding, a boys name that i love is Blaze the other one is Brayden, except Jesses cousin whos due in April stole that name from me but she can have it cause i cant do the B thing, and im figuring there will be alot of Braydens down the road and i need something unique i liked Bailey for a girl when i was pregnant except there is a liquor named Bailey, and the whole B thing again however we almost named Serenity Kaylee, thats not even on my list for future kiddos anymore

There are so many options for baby names nowadays. But if I were to choose a name it would probably be a name derived from my name or a name which has meaning and depth to it.

a book of bad baby names

can be purchased here:
Amazon.com: Bad Baby Names: The Worst True Names Parents Saddled Their Kids With, and You Can Too!: Michael Sherrod,Matthew Rayback,Joey Gates: Books

this is what they said about it on Cool Mom Picks
Cool Mom Picks: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad (Bad, Bad) Baby Names. And We Don't Mean "Krystynne."
When a newly-pregnant woman asks me for advice (okay, it's not like it happens all the time, but it does happen), I have but one gem to share: Don't tell anyone what you're thinking of naming the baby.

It doesn't matter if you're thinking of Joe or Jehosephat, people will feel compelled to tell you that it's too plain, too weird, too hard to spell, and by the way -- they knew someone with that name once who used to pick his nose.

But that's not to say that baby-naming can't be a little bit fun. In fact, there's a little book of Bad Baby Names: The Worst True Names Parents Saddled Their Kids With, And You Can Too! out there that would be a great addition to any baby shower gift. In amongst the snapshots of cute kids you'll find the most outrageous names found in actual census data. And no matter what you're thinking of naming the baby, you can rest assured that it can't possibly be as awful as Pentagon Beaver or Bad Mans.

You can pick up the book at Amazon and leave it on your coffee table to head off nosy relatives, or give it to that special expecting couple just to say that yes, they're weird. But not that weird.

We knew what our chosen name was for James long before I got pregnant and I may have shared it with a few family members if a baby conversation came up. We never changed it, didn't see a reason not to refer to him by the name he was going to get once we found out he was a boy, and I didn't really get any flak from anyone about the name. Since it was also my father's name, I did ask if he was cool with us using it (heck, yeah, he said!) and I also made sure my sister wasn't feeling like I was kissing up to my dad either. We didn't name him after my dad -- we liked it already and the fact that it also happened to be a family name made it a winner. One person on my husband's side of the family wanted the middle name to reflect their side of the family since James was from mine. My husband said no, we're not changing it and we thought that was the end of it, but it came up a couple more times and finally on the day the baby was born, the person asked what the final name was. My husband said it was exactly the same, nothing changed. And his own brother waited until the birth of both of his children before announcing their names for obvious reasons, too. Part of me just gets tired of that so I think for our second child, I'll ask to keep the name a secret until birth. Just so I don't have to listen to these conversations for the second time. My family is cool so they'll probably know. It's not like both of these families talk with each other and it'll slip out or something.

Even though for a while we were unsure, we still didn't want to tell anyone the name. We wanted something to be a surprise since we were sharing that she was/is a girl! Plus it was nice to keep it to ourselves too... guess that goes along with the surprise part. I didn't want to get any kind of grief about any names we picked either. I hate how people will ask what name someone has chosen and then they're griven grief for it. Like hello??? Did you not just hear that they are picking that name... they like that name and want that name and now you're going to be rude about it? Nice friend/family you are. The funny thing is for a while we had set on a different name and then within I'd say a month of her being born we changed our minds haha.

haha that's funny. I'm sure a lot of people are unsure until they meet their little one. I did just as you did and looked at Josh but to make sure what we planned was still going to be her name Cuz the nurse looked at me and asked her name so I didn't want to just blurt it out if Josh changed his mind.

Before I got pregnant, while I was pregnant, and even after I had the baby, we never came up with a girl name. I couldn't even be inspired to think of a girl name if we ever had a daughter. We did have a conversation where several girl names came up in a "what if we had a girl" and there were a few hey-that's-not-bad choices. Now that I've had all this time to think about the names that got mentioned, one keeps sticking out to me and I just said to my husband the other day that he was right, it was a good girl name to have. Heh, guess it passed the test of time where it still sticks with me, there's no buyer's remorse and I'll be that much more confident that I'll still like it down the road.

Funny thing is that I can't be bothered to think of a second boy name even though I expect a second son later.

I couldn't even say it out loud for the first hour after she was born, I kept getting choked up. I remember putting off calling my mom knowing she'd ask about the name.

What a sap
I wonder if you'll be the same way down the road... not being able to say his/her name or if it was more the impact of our first.
