Maxi-Cosi Foray stroller -

03-30-08, 10:51 PM

I've fallen in

Yesterday at the baby fair we saw the new Maxi-Cosi Foray stroller. It's really neat. I did as much research as I could online over the past day and decided to head to Babies R Us to check it out and play around with it. I was psyched that they had it in person for us to check out!

We immediately put Sienna in the stroller and played with the multiple recline options. Then we pulled her out and flipped the seat to rear facing and tried that out. I of course HAD to take her for a spin We didn't go far but boy did it feel great! Nice and smooth. I love the features. It has an adjustable handle for shorter or taller people - that's great for us since we are 13" different in height! Other features include: the ability to make the seat rear facing or forward facing, extendable hood/shade, detachable parent cup holder, easy one step on/off break, large basket, rain cover AND when you remove the seat you can insert the maxi cosi infant car seat in its place! Oh and... it folds up super easy and is easily carried in one hand if need be.

We'll be selling our Mia Moda stroller and car seat to help foot the cost of the new stroller. I'm so excited.

Here are some pictures:

A funny thing that happened when we were checking out the stoller and Sienna was in it... A couple registering happened to head our way and said "haha hey look this one has a baby in it" It was really funny - I swear

It's tough... it really is. I realise all the time that there are better products out there than things we had or have. I think what it comes down to is if it's something you'll get a lot of use out of or if it's a lot more money, etc. Some things I currently don't mind holding on to, but come the second child I may change my mind and want to sell off the old and get new. We'll see.

Oooh is that the one that is popular in Europe? It is tall and thin and lightweight ... celebs like it? something like that. It looks nice here. The ad I saw I wasn't really impressed but I like it here.

This is a popular European brand. It is the same brand as the convertible car seat we got for Sienna. Reading the weight in numbers, it would seem like it might feel heavy but it actually isn't. Of course you take off the seat when you fold it up, so that may have a bit to do with it, but probably not a whole lot. It's not anywhere near as light as the Maclaren but they're each in a different class of stroller so it's not right to compare the two. When I compare it to the Mia Moda it is much easier to fold up, easier to maneuver, feels so much lighter and of course has the luxury of being able to switch the seat to rear or forward facing. It costs a mear $300 but when you compare the features of that with similar designs in other brands it's really quite cheap. I'm happy to pay that as long as I know I'll be happy with it. But keep in mind we're also planning on selling our Mia Moda stroller and infant car seat to help foot the bill. We'll need to invest in an infant car seat again down the road, but that's a small price to pay really to have a full size stroller we like.

Looky looky... picture session in her new stroller. She seems to like it.

Pictures:

1. Forward facing upright
2. FF semi reclined
3. FF reclined
4. RF semi reclined - woops forgot to put the child bar back on
5. RF semi reclined with extendable hood open

I love that she can be forward or rear facing. It's very light weight and easy to maneuver, has an extendable handle, rain cover, large basket below, and step on foot brake (yes that's right... step on! You can see it in pictures 4 and 5 between the large wheels - just step to turn the brakes on or off). I'm sure I'm missing other key features but those are the big features in my eyes. We're hoping to get some use out of this tomorrow. If so - we'll get some action pics!

The one thing I noticed is FF the seat reclines way more than when its RF - which is fine. It just has different recline spots

I can't wait to use it tomorrow It'll definitely be fun to have the ability to have her face us - I think she'll like that a lot

Someone stopped us at the store yesterday, while we were out. She commented on how cool it was, asked what brand it is, how easy it is to use, etc
